Therapy for Women in Denver + Virtual EMDR & Brainspotting Therapy for Women Who
Understand Their Patterns but Still Feel Stuck in Relationships Anxiety, and Survival Mode

You’ve done the work … But something still isn’t fully shifting.

Move beyond survival mode and create more peace, confidence, connection, joy, and ease in your life and relationships.

ThIS ISN’T ABOUT NEEDING MORE INSIGHT.

The patterns you’re stuck in aren’t just cognitive, they live in your nervous system, subconscious mind, and sense of self.

That’s why you can understand your patterns logically, but still feel like you’re stuck on a hamster wheel in your actual life.

This work is about healing the deeper patterns underneath the anxiety, overthinking, self-abandonment, relationship struggles, and emotional survival mode so your life doesn’t just look different, it actually starts to feel different too.

Therapy for Women in Denver Who Feel Stuck Despite Doing the Work

You’ve done a lot of work on yourself.

You’re self-aware, intentional, and probably understand many of your patterns intellectually.

But still, something underneath it all still doesn’t fully feel different.

Maybe that shows up most clearly in relationships through overthinking, emotional triggers, self-doubt, or finding yourself pulled into the same kinds of unfulfilling or toxic dynamics.

Or maybe it shows up more quietly in your everyday life:

feeling disconnected from yourself, emotionally overwhelmed, unable to fully relax, or like you’re constantly trying to “figure yourself out” instead of actually feeling grounded, at ease, and enjoying your life.

The thing is: relationships aren’t actually the deepest issue.

They’re the doorway into deeper healing around self-trust, emotional safety, nervous system patterns, and reconnecting with yourself in a more grounded, embodied way.

Does this sound familiar…

Meet Lauren-

Brainspotting + EMDR Therapist for Women in Denver, CO

Hi! I’m Lauren Cortez, LMFT. I’m really glad you’re here :)

I do EMDR + Brainspotting therapy for women in Denver (and virtually throughout CO + CA) who understand themselves deeply, but still can’t seem to fully shift the anxiety, relationship patterns, self-doubt, or emotional survival mode underneath it all.

Maybe that looks like ending up in the same kind of unfulfilling or toxic relationship dynamic… constantly overthinking… shrinking yourself… struggling to fully enjoy the present moment… or feeling like life is happening to you instead of fully living it.

But I don’t see these struggles as the deepest issue.

I see them as the doorway into reconnecting with yourself more deeply, learning how to feel safe, grounded, present, and able to actually receive the life you want instead of just surviving through it.

This work is personal to me. I know what it’s like to understand your patterns and still feel stuck in them.

At a certain point, I realized it wasn’t more insight I needed, it was a way to actually work with what was underneath it all.

Because real change doesn’t come from overthinking, analyzing yourself more, or trying to “fix” yourself.

It comes from healing the deeper emotional wounds, subconscious patterns, and nervous system responses that shape the way you experience yourself, relationships, love, safety, joy, success, and life as a whole.

This isn’t about giving you more tools or more things to figure out.
It’s about helping things actually shift so you can trust yourself, feel more grounded, and open up to a life that genuinely feels good.

I use EMDR, Brainspotting, attachment work, and parts-based approaches to get underneath the patterns, so change doesn’t just make sense, it actually happens.

This work is about more than insight—
it’s about creating a space where you can feel safe, supported, and truly met as things begin to change.

In our work together, we focus on:

  • Healing the deeper subconscious patterns, emotional wounds, and nervous system responses shaping your relationships, sense of self, and overall experience of life

  • Working with patterns + triggers as they show up instead of just talking about them intellectually

  • Identifying and shifting the subconscious beliefs shaping your relationship patterns, sense of self, and ability to truly enjoy the life you’re meant for

  • Support that works with your body + nervous system, not just your thoughts

  • Building deeper self-trust so you can move through life feeling more grounded, connected, and less consumed by second-guessing

  • Expanding your capacity to experience love, joy, peace, visibility, rest, connection, and a life that genuinely feels good to be in

  • Allowing space for the messy, human parts of healing: confusion, grief, mixed feelings, uncertainty, without feeling like you have to “figure it all out” perfectly

  • Learning how to stay connected to yourself in moments that would normally pull you into anxiety, overthinking, or self-doubt

  • After sessions, there can often be a feeling of release, like a weight has been lifted

This work isn’t just about changing your relationships. It’s about changing the way your life actually feels — so you’re no longer just surviving your life, but fully living it.

What Therapy With Me Looks Like:

My approach to therapy for women in Denver, CO and throughout Colorado and California is focused on helping things actually move in a different direction—
not by trying harder or analyzing more, but by working with your patterns at their root.

THIS WORK OFTEN LEADS TO…

small moment of joy and lightness during the healing process
  • Less overthinking + fewer internal spirals

  • Feeling more grounded, regulated, present, and connected to yourself

  • Trusting your thoughts, feelings, decisions, and desires without constant second-guessing

  • Feeling less drawn toward unavailable, unhealthy, or emotionally unsafe dynamics

  • More self-trust, emotional safety, peace, confidence, and ease in the way you move through life and relationships

  • More capacity for rest, joy, connection, visibility, abundance, and actually receiving the good in your life

  • Feeling less stuck in survival mode and more connected to aliveness, embodiment, and the present moment

  • No longer shrinking yourself, abandoning yourself, or subconsciously holding yourself back from the life you deeply want

BUT MORE THAN THAT, THIS WORK CHANGES HOW YOUR LIFE ACTUALLY FEELS…

  • You feel calmer. More present. More like yourself.

  • You’re no longer constantly trapped in cycles of overthinking, fear, self-doubt, emotional survival, or searching outside of yourself for the thing that will finally make you feel okay.

  • You feel more connected to your body, your emotions, your desires

And over time, your nervous system begins to learn that it’s safe to experience love, peace, joy, rest, and a life that genuinely feels good to live.

How I can help

For women who are tired of understanding their patterns… but still feeling stuck in them

  • Derived from EMDR, Brainspotting is a brain-and body-based approach that helps access and process patterns at a deeper level than talk therapy. It creates space to move beyond insight and begin shifting the deeper emotional, subconscious, and nervous system patterns shaping your relationships, self-trust, and overall experience of life. Learn more about Brainspotting here.

  • EMDR therapy for relationship patterns, overthinking, anxiety, that “stuck” despite all my efforts feeling. This creates a space to process what’s still shaping how you feel and respond so you can feel more grounded, clear, and secure in your life and relationships. Learn more about EMDR here.

  • You’re not stuck because you lack insight. The patterns you keep experiencing in relationships are held deeper, in your subconscious mind + nervous system. This is why you can understand everything and still feel pulled into the same dynamics, or like nothing is moving forward.
Therapy for healthier relationships focuses on shifting those patterns at their root, so change isn’t just something you understand, but something you actually experience. Learn more about Relationship + Attachment Trauma therapy here.

  • I offer therapy intensives for women who are ready to work through emotional triggers, relationship patterns, and deeper healing in a more focused, accelerated format.

Intensives can support meaningful shifts either alongside weekly therapy or as an alternative to the traditional weekly model. Learn more about Therapy Intensives here.

After i reach out, what happens next?

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming. Let me make this part as easy as possible.

You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out. Many of the women I work with understand their patterns but still feel unsure about what the next step looks like.
We’ll start with a low-pressure conversation about what’s been coming up in your relationships (or lack thereof) and what you want to shift. You can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide from there. No pressure to commit!

FAQ

  • If you’ve done a lot of self-work and feel like you understand your patterns, but things still aren’t actually changing in your life or relationships—this is probably a good fit. You don’t need to have it all figured out before starting. We’ll use the consultation to get a sense of what you’re looking for and whether working together feels aligned.

  • Brainspotting is a brain and body-based approach that helps us access and process patterns at a deeper level than traditional talk therapy.
Instead of just talking about what’s going on, we’re working with what’s happening in your nervous system in real time. It’s especially helpful if you feel like you already understand your patterns—but still find yourself stuck in them. Learn more here.

  • EMDR is another approach that helps your brain and nervous system process experiences that may still be shaping how you feel and respond today. A lot of what shows up in relationships—overthinking, second-guessing yourself, feeling pulled toward certain dynamics—often has roots in earlier experiences your system is still holding onto.

EMDR helps your brain process those experiences so they don’t feel as activating or familiar. Which means you can start to feel more grounded, more clear, and more like yourself in relationships—instead of getting pulled into the same patterns. Learn more here.

  • Sessions are focused, collaborative, and centered around helping you build a more grounded, compassionate relationship with yourself.

Alongside processing patterns and emotional triggers, a big part of this work is learning how to connect with the younger parts of you that learned to survive through anxiety, overthinking, self-protection, or self-abandonment.

Instead of criticizing or fighting those parts, you’ll begin learning how to respond to yourself with more self-compassion, emotional safety, and self-trust.

The goal isn’t just to understand your patterns intellectually, but to actually shift how you experience yourself, your relationships, and your life.

  • I’m considered an out-of-network provider and don’t work directly with insurance.

That said, I can provide a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Many clients are able to get a portion of their sessions covered, depending on their plan—so it’s worth checking your out-of-network benefits.

    Why I work this way
Working outside of insurance allows us to:

Move at your pace — without limitations on the number of sessions or concerns about coverage being cut off

Focus on what you actually need — not what insurance requires or prioritizes

Keep your information more private — without needing to share diagnoses or session details with insurance companies

Create more personalized, intentional care — without restrictions on how we work together

  • Sessions are $225 for 55 minutes.

If you’re interested in therapy intensives, we can talk through options and pricing during your consultation.

  • Yes—all sessions are virtual.

I work with clients in Denver, CO and throughout Colorado and California, and most people find virtual therapy to be just as effective (and a lot more convenient).

  • Therapy intensives are longer, more focused sessions designed to help you work through a specific pattern or area in a more concentrated way.

They’re a good option if you’re wanting a more focused, accelerated approach—either alongside or instead of weekly therapy. Learn more here.

  • The first step is booking a free 15-minute consultation. Call, text, email or fill out a form on my contact page and I will get back to you within one business day.

The consult is a chance for us to connect, talk through what you’re looking for, and see if working together feels like a good fit.
